DIY Dice Tray
There is something special rolling into a wooden dice tray and hearing the resounding clack and thud of dice as as they come to a stop. They are also insanely helpful to keep dice on the table and turn any surface into a gaming surface–for rolling dice that is. I wasn’t satisfied with anything I was finding online, so I decided to make my own homemade dice tray!
Frame
The easiest way to get the wooden tray is to use picture frames. There are many places to find picture frames. I was looking for something very simple and found these black frames which saved me some time refinishing or repainting the wood.
Assorted Colors
The lining is Pendelton Wool pilfered from some of the scraps we had at home from other projects. I couldn’t help making a few in different colors to show off some of the vibrance and variation.
Dimensions
For reference, these trays are 8″ x 6″ x 1.25″ and have sufficient capacity to roll an entire fistful of dice very well. Here is a reference d20 for size comparison.
